Soll sich Deutschland um die Ausrichtung der internationalen Recherchekonferenz bewerben?
Die Global Investigative Journalism Conference (GIJC) hat sich zum Ziel gesetzt, in Zeiten der Globalisierung das Wissen um die Methoden investigativer Recherchearbeit im Journalismus weltweit zu fördern. Wenn Märkte und Regierungen international Entscheidungen treffen, müssen Reporter weltweit aufklären.
Die GIJC will zu diesem Zweck persönliche Netzwerke recherchierender Journalisten weltweit fördern und gleichzeitig den internationalen Austausch über Recherchemethoden erleichtern. Dazu unterstützt die GIJC neben Schulungen für computer-assisted reporting, auch regionale und internationale Workshops, um am Beispiel von Best-Practises-Fällen Methoden investigativer Recherchen weiterzugeben,.
Die GIJC findet seit 2001 alle zwei Jahre statt. Die nächste GIJC wird im kommenden Jahr in Rio de Janeiro organisiert. Es wird mit über 700 Teilnehmern aus über 80 Staaten gerechnet. Das netzwerk recherche überlegt, sich um die Veranstaltung der Konferenz im Jahr 2015 zu bewerben.
Hinter der GIJC stehen unabhängige Journalisten, die sich im Global Investigative Journalism Network zusammengetan haben. In diesem Netzwerk sind auch verschiedene Organisationen Mitglied, die von investigativen Reportern getragen werden. Etwa das netzwerk recherche. Nur gemeinnützige Organisationen dürfen Mitglieder des Netzwerkes werden.
The Global Investigative Journalism Conference (GIJC) is organized by a group of independent journalism organizations that support the training and sharing of information among journalists in investigative and computer-assisted reporting. At our roundtable we will discuss whether netzwerk recherche shall apply to host the conference in 2015.
The aim of the GIJC is to:
- help organize and promote regional and international conferences and workshops
- assist in the formation and continuation of journalism organizations involved in investigative reporting and computer-assisted reporting in all countries
- support and promote methods of best practices in investigative journalism and computer-assisted reporting
- support and promote efforts to ensure free access to public documents and data in every country
- provide resources and networking services for participating groups and for investigative journalists.
The GIJC is organized every two years in another country. The next GIJC will be held in Rio de Janerio. It is expected, that more then 700 Journalist from all over the world will get together, to share their experiences.
The GIJC is also a place to connect each other for the work ahead. If business and politics go global, it is also the duty for investigative Journalists to follow their trails.
Only non-profit journalism organizations that support investigative or computer-assisted reporting can become members of network. The network will take no political, religious or ideological stances. It will encourage and coordinate training, resources for training, and networking services.
